Cat Welfare Society

PR Campaign

This was a second year campaign on Cat Welfare Society, a non-profit organisation.

As imbecile as it might sound, I have a fear of cats, or rather, kittens – they followed me home during primary school days. The project was obviously heavily-focused on cats and I have to search tons of information about them. I felt nauseous at the thought of searching online for "cats" and staring at thousands of photos of them. Furthermore, we were to work on non-pedigree cats, meaning stray cats including abandoned and abused ones, which adds to the nauseousness. With other project mates who similarly do not adore cats, our idea was to have a main mascot for our campaign so that people out there who also fear cats will not be deterred from this campaign just because it is about cats.

I designed the mascot to be specifically a turtle shell cat because it means that the cat does not belong to a specific breed. They are the ones most commonly found stray, and are often the ones abused by the human race.

The highlight of our campaign was a roadshow event, filled with food and games. Participants can engage by completing "The Meow Maze".

The Cat Welfare Society website was also proposed to be revamped for a new look that fits exactly into our theme of having the mascot, as well as highlighting services that the organisation provides.
